About Thumbnail Grabber
Thumbnail Grabber is a small, free set of tools for people who work with online video: a thumbnail downloader for YouTube and Vimeo, and an image resizer that prepares pictures in the sizes YouTube expects.
Why we built it
Finding the right thumbnail image should take seconds, not a visit to a page full of pop-ups. We wanted a clean tool that shows only the sizes that exist, saves the file with a sensible name, and does not ask for an account.
How it works
YouTube publishes a set of preview images for each video at predictable public addresses. When you paste a link, we extract the video ID, check which of those images exist, and show them to you. Downloads are passed through our server only so your browser can save the file directly. We do not store the images or the links you enter.
The image resizer is different: it runs entirely in your browser using the canvas feature, so your pictures are never uploaded.
How the site is funded
The tools are free. We display advertising from Google AdSense to cover hosting and development. Ads are clearly labelled and never replace the tool's own buttons.
Independence and copyright
Thumbnail Grabber is not affiliated with YouTube, Google or Vimeo. Every thumbnail belongs to the channel that published it. Please respect creators' rights and read our guide on thumbnail copyright.
